Optional field of specialisation Law of Religion
The specialization (or elective area) "Law of Religion" offers focus areas in both current and foundational law. Overall, the content of the courses has become increasingly relevant in recent times. This is evident, for example, in current issues concerning freedom of religion and belief, but also in the rise in the number of public service positions dedicated to these subjects.
Core Subjects (9 ECTS credits)
- Freedom of religion and weltanschauung in Austria or Foundations of Austrian law of religion respectively (history – fundamental rights – areas of application)
- Legal position of recognised religious communities in Austria (“Privileged and Discriminated Against”)
- European and comparative law of religion
Elective Subjects (9 ECTS credits)
- Seminars in law of religion
- Comparaison des modèles coopératifs et laïques
- Internal law of religious communities, as e.g. Canon law, Protestant law, Orthodox law, Islamic law
- Practical training after consultation with the coordinator
